why i've been away...

making more television appearances... this time from the second row at wrigley with the lovely B.  promise a return to regularly scheduled programming soon!

yeah, that's me on the left, just under two minutes into the second of three overtimes.  first national television appearance!  (at least 5.35 million.)  zac effron jr there on the right was, by our estimates, an unappreciative little jerk who nodded with utter indifference when Z asked if he sat courtside often.  plus he spent much of the game playing around with his iphone, which might be a hypocritical charge since i was plenty busy trading texts of awe between sixty percent of my address book.  either way, wouldn't be surprised to spot him tomorrow night at the garden.  kid rolls large, though suspsect life's got plenty of disappointments in store.

experts at the weather channel said it was a one in ten chance, but as soon as we pulled into the lot it completely started pouring.  drug out the clubs, soldiered on, saw a quite decisive 'course closed' sign and promptly turned back to the city.  golf outing turned to scrabble outing and by the time we left aberdeen it was like 75 and sunny.  of course.  either way, big ups to R for bringing the extra spicy bloody marys.

anyway, i'm tired, spent at least an hour sifting through a ton of total trash (not the good kind) and all i've got today is a delorean remix of this glasser track.  check delorean on hypem - they do fine work - and glasser's pretty intriguing, too.

remember the horrors?  with that edward gorey aesthetic and at least one eponymous video?  and yeah, that was pretty much it, but they're back with a record produced by geoff barrow (portishead!) and chris cunningham.  not pronouncing it brilliant quite yet, though it's a clear and positive departure from their previous effort... gothic kraut filtered through 4ad gauze/gaze.  and totally unexpected.  to wit:

meanwhile, "two weeks" is an obvious early favorite in the '09 tracks category.  couple of mixes circulating at the moment that warrant attention.  the first, from tomato:

loaded up today, kids.  kicking things off with the best use of sigur ros against rhymes since flosstradamus mashed 'em with twista.  next up is fred falke's rather subdued treatment for annie.  not much to add here.  meh? and yes, that's the field.  kind of a banger for axel, but you could still i.d. the source with one ear... even buried in a three-hour m. mayer set.  simply blissy.  new full-length out in a month.  and finally, yep, yep, track from the pending clipse.  the wiki's telling me the casket doesn't drop till late summer, but check out that list of producers - for better or worse, the rick rubin thing is on.  as far as this cut?  probably need a couple more days.

first.  i think it's fair to say the very integrity of the aberdeen pub quiz is suspect.  next week: pub knife fight.  i know L's in.

next.  "beach queen" (way below) is probably the best song since howard jones' "things can only get better."  ok, that's admittedly poor.  if you can think of / have better references, please hit me up.  someone just said it "reminds me of fridays twenty years ago" (she meant 25), and that's were we were.  at the city swimming pool.  listening to howard jones.
