...it very well could be accosted by a five euro robocreature. this was a few moments after the outdoor ceremony, when our sydney team bagged this for their earth hour effort. really sounded like it might scoop the grand prix, but alas. didn't stop us all from rolling out for a rambunctious celebration that, once again, until about two in the morning. but that was all tuesday.
yesterday was the big wildfire seminar, which went pretty much according to plan. i'd caught r/ga in the same space just the hour before and the a/v issues had me a bit concerned. ducked back to the hotel, then hit up the draft/gunn reception, which was cool 'cause i got into the palais all vip. downed a glass of rose in about 27 seconds and exchanged a few pleasantries with some old acquaintances. only live blogged the first hour or so of the cyber/design/press proceedings, leaving when stevie ballmer hit the stage to collect his media person of the year award. met up with the extended crew and we jumped in vans for a 20 minute ride up to grasse for an absolutely extraordinary dinner. probably the best restaurant i've ever dined in, though few (zero) veggie options on the all-french menu. thanks to R for helping get the chef to make me a pretty extraordinary pasta dish and a starter plate of morels. meal was rich in a couple respects. back at two once AGAIN.
today began with mark's master class to the young lion massive. i shot some pics, but ducked out to hear david plouffe speak to an SRO crowd. i was among those in the S category, so it was kind of tiring and it was hot and smelled funny. plouffe was good, answering some questions about how the great schlep and will.i.am factored in. overall, though, same sort of netroots-taking-it-to-the-people stuff i expected. back down to watch the rest of mark's imparting of wisdom to the youngsters and now i'm here in the saatchi new directors showcase. some decent stuff, pretty obvious we wouldn't be where we are now without c. cunningham and m. gondry.
